Fairmail is a fair trade photography project producing fair-trade photo cards in Peru. (see www.fairmail.info). The photos on Fairmail cards are taken by Peruvian underprivileged teenagers. On the backside of every card you see the face, name and age of the photographer. Fairmail offers this youth photography training, part-time work and guidance in making their own future plans. The teenagers get 50 % of the profits of the sale of their own cards to finance their education.
Volunteers play and have played an indispensable role in the training and motivation of the teenage photographers. Over the last 12 months we have received 8 volunteers from the USA, South Africa, Germany and the Netherlands. There is no charge what so ever to come and volunteer at fairmail. See the details on http://www.fairmail.info/index.php?page=volunteering&title=Volunteering if you wish.
